Washington Weather Shield was founded in 2012 after Ivan Prokopets spent years working for major commercial roofing companies across the Greater Seattle area. Rather than expanding into residential work, Ivan made a deliberate decision to focus exclusively on commercial roofing—allowing him to develop deep expertise in commercial systems, logistics, and the realities of working on occupied buildings.

Over time, it became clear that successful commercial roofing is about more than installation alone. Details like tenant coordination, daily site cleanup, and clear milestone communication often determine whether a project supports—or disrupts—a property manager’s day. Those insights continue to guide how we work.

Rita Prokopets later joined the company as Head of Business Operations after more than a decade at Amazon, bringing extensive experience in customer relations, marketing, and operational process design. Together, Ivan and Rita focused on building strong systems and workflows that reduce friction, improve communication, and deliver a better client experience.

That focus is reflected in our process today, from early planning through final closeout, and in how we operate on active job sites. We coordinate work to minimize tenant impact, document each phase of the project, track our performance openly, and stand behind our installations through our Warranty & Protection Program.
